About Foreign Muck

A look back on old times when ‘World Cinema’ was a staple of late night British television. That was back in the ‘eighties mostly, certainly before Channel 5, and satellite doesn’t count, nor does home video.

You’d usually have to stay up after midnight to see a good film. But in the glorious early days of Channel 4 (from 1982) you could actually watch obscure gems such as Tragedy of a Switchboard Operator at nine in the evening. Details of titles and stars may have been forgotten by now, but images of the ‘best bits’ linger on.

This is a collection of pictures and clips to help jog the memory.
